Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Review

Written by: Owner/Travel Advisor of AET Lynn Wolverton

As a professional Travel Advisor I am asked the infamous “Is the Starcruiser worth the cost?”question all of the time. I can confidently tell you that after experiencing the Starcruiser myself and from our clients’ feedback, “Yes!”!! Let me share with you everything that is included in the cost so that you can see the value of what you are paying for.

I booked the Starcruiser as a Christmas gift for my husband who has been a Star Wars fan since he was a youngling. He had the time of his life and enjoyed our experience so much!

Before I get into my review and explain what is included in the costs, please note that this is not a typical Walt Disney World Resort hotel. This is an immersive 2 night 3 day Star Wars experience where you become a part of the story geared for all ages, however younglings must be 7 years old to participate in Lightsaber Training.

Now let’s jump into hyperspace and go over everything that is included in the cost!

Your Cabin:

We stayed in a Standard Cabin since it was just my husband and I. Our room came with a comfy queen bed, bunk beds, bathroom, mini table and chairs, closets with a safe and cozy comfy robes to wear, complimentary water, a split bathroom, toiletries, and a window that looks out into Space. I loved stargazing out of that window as I fell asleep each night. It was so soothing and relaxing.

There are 100 cabins in total on the ship consisting of Standard Cabins that can sleep up to 4 guests; Galaxy Class Suites that can sleep up to 6 guests; and the Grand Captain Suite that can sleep up to 8 guests.

Housekeeping is included as well. If you are in your room and you ever need anything you can press on the little droid vacuum symbol on the wall.

Dining:

The Halcyon feeds you and they feed you well! All of the dining is complimentary and consists of lunch, snacks, and dinner on Day 1.

Day 2 consists of breakfast, lunch, snacks, a quick service credit (includes entree and drink) for each person to use while on your Batuu excursion, dinner, and a dessert buffet at the end of the night.

Day 3 consists of a breakfast buffet and a to go boxed breakfast as well.

Non-alcoholic drinks are included and unlimited with all meals. The unlimited Blue and Green Milk on tap is what I loved the most! I filled up a to go cup everyday after I left the Crown of Corellia dining room.

Alcohol and other specialty cocktails in the Sublight Lounge are an extra charge. My husband tried the Mandalore Sling and during my dinner on Day 1 I tried the Blue Milk Citrus Fizz. There was also really delicious complimentary drink they hand out during the muster drill. They serve it in the Sublight Lounge as well. It tasted like sparkling guava juice with lime. It was very tasty and refreshing.

Everything was so delicious and amazing! Probably the best food I have ever eaten on Disney property, and that is saying a lot because you all know how much I love dining at Walt Disney World.

DataBands:

These are exclusive to the Starcruiser. Each person in your party will receive these beauties to use during your stay. They are MagicBands, but on the Halcyon they are your DataBand and what you use to unlock your cabin, use for your side missions, used for charging privileges, and used while on Batuu.

These are yours to keep and you can use them as a MagcBand for future trips as well.

Character Experiences/Entertainment:

We had some of the best best character interactions and experiences. The character interaction and acting is superb and on a whole other level. They never break character ever! Even if you see them walking down hallways and interacting with each other, they are in character the entire time.

Our favorite character was LT. Croy who served in the military of the First Order. We interacted a lot with him and participated his side missions while on Batuu. On the Starcruiser you create your own story, so you may have side missions with other characters.

During dinner on the first night you will meet Gaya, who is a Galactic Diva, along with Ouannii and Sandro who perform with her as well. The Captain, LT Croy, and the Storm Troopers would make appearances the the dinners as well, so you are entertained each night at dinner.

What I loved the most is that the characters personally get to know you and remember your names. Little things like that are what truly make this experience extra unique and magical.

Bridge Training and LightSaber Training:

Bridge training was our favorite! It was a lot of fun and similar to playing a series of mini games and puzzles.

Lightsaber training was a lot of fun as well! I felt like this activity is more geared towards younglings, while Bridge training is more geared for teens and adults. I personally would love it they offered different levels of Lightsaber training, such as beginner and advanced to make it a little more challenging.

Visit to Batuu:

During your visit to Batuu, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you are given Lightning Lane access to use at any time for both Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run attractions. The Lightning Lanes are for one use per ride per person.

Before you go on your excursion you are given special pins to wear and also told about the quick service meal credit you have and how to spend it.

The transport that takes you on your excursion to Batuu was the coolest thing ever! Yes, it does actually transport you! I won’t spoil and ruin the magic for you, but just know that this was an attraction itself! The music and all that is going on gets you really excited and pumped for your day on Batuu.

Keep in mind that you have to be back to the transport no later than 4pm. If you miss that and decide to stay in the park later you will need to Uber/Lyft or call a taxi back to the Starcruiser.

Level of Service:

The level of service in beyond amazing! Every crew member is kind and makes sure you are well taken care of from the moment you’re waiting to check in to the moment you check out. Every time you pass a crew member they say “Good Voyage” to you, which I thought was a cute touch. Even the captain asked us how everything was and if we were enjoying ourselves. You can tell that all of the Halcyon crew love their job and is happy to go above and beyond for guests and their needs.

Optional Paid for Add-on Experiences:

Reservations at Oga’s Cantina, Droid Depot, and Savi’s Workshop- Spots are guaranteed for Starcruiser guests. Reservations can be booked starting 60 days in advance from your voyage date.

We booked a reservation at Oga’s cantina because there is a special mission you can participate in during your experience there.

Captain’s Table- I tried really hard to get a spot at the Captain’s Table for dinner, but reservations are tough to snag because it is very limited. It is only $30 extra per person, and from what I could tell (we were seated across from the table), it is totally worth it! The Captain sits at the table for a bit to interact with guests, which was really neat to see, on top of the extra foods and drinks you will get to try.

CSL Portrait Sessions- These sessions are not a guarantee and first come first serve and cost $99 for a 30 minute session. I booked mine in advance and did ask to see if they had any openings when I was there. They did have a couple openings on Day 2, so if you do not book in advance there is a possibility you can book a session while onboard, but I recommend booking it in advance. Here are some of the photos we had taken!

Overall, I felt the price I paid was justified for everything that was included in this experience! Watching my husband live out his best Star Wars life was priceless. The level of service, level of entertainment, the cast, and the food, no pun intended, were literally out of this World

If you are a Star Wars fan, this truly is a once in a lifetime experience that you would never forget! The Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser was made for you, so I hope that you get to experience it and have as much fun as we had!
